Neck and Face Liposuction

Board Certified Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeons

At New York’s Facial, Plastic, Reconstructive and Laser Surgery, our Board Certified Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons focus exclusively on the face and neck. Neck and face liposuction, or submental liposuction, removes the fat around the face and neck.

Many people have double chins or larger necks. Fat deposits below the chin and around the face can be incredibly hard to lose and are often not a sign of being overweight. Genetics are often to blame and diet, or exercise, do not solve the problem. With neck and face liposuction our patients can have a contoured, slim neckline and facial appearance.

Who is a Candidate for Neck and Face Liposuction?
The best candidates for necklift surgery are healthy men and women seeking to improve the contour of their neck and face. Your skilled surgeon will remove the excess fat and skin from your neck, giving you a youthful, slimmer neckline. A cannula, or “suction wand” is inserted into a small incision either behind the ears or under the chin to remove excess fat, while reshaping the contour of the neck.

A necklift may also be needed to remove excess skin and tighten sagging muscles around the face and neckline. The surgery tightens the platysma muscle, which has separated or sagged over time and contributes to an unsightly appearance. The soft tissues below the jawline are elevated and any excess fat or skin beneath the chin is removed. Small incisions are hidden within the hairline and behind the ear. Our surgeons always deliver the most natural looking results while keeping future muscle movement and function in mind.

What is the Recovery Like from Neck and Face Liposuction?
Neck and face liposuction is performed with moderate sedation or general anesthesia, depending on a patient’s preference. The procedure is accomplished in an outpatient setting. Most patients return home after only a few hours. Recovery may last up to one week, at which time patients may return to work and non-strenuous activities. Mild discomfort, swelling, and bruising are common the first few days after surgery. Most patients feel confident returning to their public and social lives in about 10-14 days.

Our experienced surgeons reduce bruising and recovery time with the application of state-of-art techniques and the use of homeopathic or herbal options. Detailed postoperative and aftercare instructions will be provided to each patient.
