Rhinoplasty / Nose Reshaping

Board Certified Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeons

At New York’s Facial, Plastic Reconstructive and Laser Surgery , rhinoplasty or “nose job” is one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures requested by Hudson Valley men and women. The nose rests prominently in the of the face and serves both aesthetic and functional purposes. Concerns about the size and shape of one’s nose are very common and can have a significant impact on how one views their appearance.

When a nose is out of proportion with other facial features, deformed by a nasal bump, or is too large, for example, these abnormalities can alter the face’s natural harmony. For some patients, a deformity of the nose can also cause breathing problems. Rhinoplasty is one of the most challenging of all facial plastic surgery procedures, requiring significant skill and experience. Patients must trust their face to a plastic surgeon who has extensive, fellowship-trained experience in rhinoplasty surgery.

Who is a Candidate for Rhinoplasty or Nose Reshaping?
Healthy men, women, and teens looking to improve the appearance and / or function of their nose may be excellent candidates for rhinoplasty or nose reshaping. Younger patients may be appropriate candidates based on several factors, including physical and emotional maturity. During a consultation, an experienced facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon will perform a facial analysis and work with you to help determine the best course of action that will deliver the most appealing results.

What is the Recovery like from Rhinoplasty or Nose Job Surgery?
Rhinoplasty surgery may be performed with moderate sedation or general anesthesia, depending on the patient’s preference and age. When performed on younger children, rhinoplasty may be carried out in a hospital setting.

We use only the most advanced, state-of-the-art rhinoplasty techniques. As each nose is unique in both appearance and function, the rhinoplasty procedure and technique are tailored to each patient’s individual aesthetic and functional needs. Small incisions, hidden under the nasal tip and within the nose, allow access to the cartilage and bone responsible for the shape and function of the nose. These structures are carefully adjusted to achieve the desired appearance and function. Sutures are used to close the incisions and a small external splint is placed. Scarring is minimal and the sutures are securely hidden underneath the skin.

Rhinoplasty is performed on an outpatient basis. Most patients return home a few hours after surgery. Length of recovery time depends on the complexity of the procedure and varies from patient to patient. Prescription pain medication is usually only required for the first few days. Mild discomfort, bruising, or swelling lasts about 7 to 10 days. Most patients are able to return to work, school, or other daily activities within about one week. Avoidance of contact sports is recommended for about one month after surgery. Our experienced surgeons reduce bruising and recovery time with the application of state-of-art techniques and the use of homeopathic or herbal options. Detailed postoperative and aftercare instructions will be provided to each patient.

Those patients considering rhinoplasty, or nose reshaping, should carefully evaluate their surgeon’s credentials and training. Our doctors are Board Certified, with extensive knowledge to deliver the best cosmetic results while safeguarding proper breathing function.
