Quickly & Permanently Remove Fat Anywhere

Liposuction

Liposuction is one of the world’s most popular cosmetic procedures. It was developed to get rid of tough areas of fat on your body. When we gain weight, our fat cells increase in both size and volume, but sometimes no matter how much we diet, those fat cells don’t get smaller. Liposuction permanently removes stubborn fat cells to create a slimmer and more flattering physique. It requires small, easily concealable incisions, and, with modern techniques, swelling and bruising during the recovery period is minimized. Additionally, patients can elect to have the fat that is removed transferred to other parts of their body. Fat grafting to the buttocks, hip dips, and even breasts can enhance the natural contours of the body to create a more balanced and aesthetic appearance.

Liposuction in Poughkeepsie, NY

At NYFACEmd and Oasis Medi-Spa New York, liposuction procedures are able to reduce the fat cells in a specific area of the body permanently, when a stable weight is maintained. A special instrument with suction is used to loosen your body’s stored fat so your surgeon can remove it during this procedure. Since only minimal incisions are needed for this process, your recovery will be greatly reduced with only minor bruising and swelling. As you heal, your skin will mold to the new contours your surgeon has created, giving you a beautiful and proportioned shape.

While liposuction at our Hudson Valley practice is not a substitute for a healthy lifestyle, it can make you look and feel better. It is important for patients to remember that liposuction (or any body contouring procedure) is not a weight loss procedure and is not a treatment for obesity. It is designed to enhance your shape at your current weight. Patients should not count on seeing a smaller number on the scale after surgery.

Liposuction

A great candidate for liposuction is a healthy individual, with well-controlled medical conditions or none at all. Liposuction is not a quick fix; rather it is meant for someone who recognizes the importance of regular exercise, consumes a healthful diet, and is at a healthy weight. It is best utilized for those who want to address problem areas

Men and women who are (1) healthy, (2) want to eliminate excess fat from specific areas of the body, (3) have good skin tone/quality in the areas of concern, and (4) have realistic expectations are excellent candidates for liposuction.

All of our procedures are performed at our office in our JCAHO-accredited surgical suite. In other words, your surgery will be performed in a facility that has met the same standards as a hospital!

The duration of a liposuction procedure varies based on which areas are being treated. Most liposuction procedures are performed under general anesthesia on an outpatient basis.

There are multiple ways to perform liposuction depending on the specific area(s) being treated. The technique and approach that are chosen depend on each patient’s individual needs and aesthetic goals.

Dr. DelMauro utilizes several small incisions hidden in your natural folds and creases.

Manual lymphatic massage is a special type of massage that is thought to stimulate lymphatic flow and hasten the resolution of postsurgical swelling. It is an essential component of the rapid recovery protocol. For this reason, patients who undergo liposuction with Dr. DelMauro receive multiple complementary manual lymphatic massages at Oasis MediSpa with certified specialists.

Yes. Dr. DelMauro frequently performs liposuction of the abdomen and flanks (and other areas) at the same time as a tummy tuck / abdominoplasty. He believes that these techniques work synergistically to create the highest-quality aesthetic outcomes in patients.

With Dr. DelMauro’s rapid recovery protocol, most patients experience mild discomfort and aches after liposuction. However, the speed of recovery depends largely on your ability to follow the rapid recovery protocol. Most patients are able to return to their normal daily routine and work within 3-5 days. (However, patients are advised to avoid various activities for several weeks after surgery. Additional details will be discussed with you by Dr. DelMauro and is explained in the postoperative instructions provided to each patient.)

Yes. Typically patients wear a compression garment for six to eight weeks.

The number of fat cells in your body is set during puberty/adolescence and remains constant throughout adulthood. The fat cells that are removed during liposuction never “grow back”. Instead, the remaining fat cells in the body must work overtime to make up for the missing fat cells—meaning that any postsurgical weight gains will be more visible in areas not previously treated with liposuction.

Liposuction (or any body contouring procedure) is not a weight loss procedure and is not a treatment for obesity. It is designed to enhance your shape at your current weight. Patients should not count on seeing a smaller number on the scale after surgery.
